Versus
                                                                                          A proposal for an exhibition
Composer Bernard Magny and painter Jean Becette are collaborating on the creation of a body of work music/paintings. Both artists share interest in the idea of « Fragments », particularly the fragmentation of time. Time for the painter is about capturing the essence of a moment. For Bernard, time has resonance and echo. Because of their friendship during time spent on discussing the subject, each separately started working on that idea exploring the limits of their own process. It was with no surprise to discover the similarities in their processes which led to feeding each other’s creations. This collaboration meant that the paintings where creating sounds as the music was sounding images.
The third component to this project is the musician. An old friend and an admire to both artists, Roger Eon, became the « translator » and the creator that was going to carry out the link in between both processes. Roger plays the music of Bernard and paints with it. He allows emotions to emerge from the paintings of Jean and gives it a sound.
We would like to find a space large enough that would allow us to continue working on this project. It would be important to make that space a learning environment for all viewers.
